Can you keep your fanveil fluttering while your body’s on holiday?

To keep a fanveil fluttering requires plenty of strength and rapid movement in your hand, wrist and arm – while the rest of your body looks calm and serene! The key to successfully dancing with a fanveil is to refine your isolation techniques – and that’s exactly what this course teaches you. Discover how to isolate your fanveil’s movements, alongside new ways of dancing and turning with fluidity and grace.

Do you find turns a challenge? Don’t panic! This course helps you tackle your turning fears in a new and colourful way. When you turn with a prop, you really have to master the technique – and you’ll see instantly when you’ve got it right because your fanveil will happily follow wherever you guide it.

Note: Fanveils are provided for use during classes, but are not available to take home. We advise that you invest in a fanveil for your home practice.

Why 5 weeks?

Because summer time often means summer holidays, woohoo! Our 10-week courses have their own little holiday during July-August, and our 5-week courses shimmy in from stage left to work their summer season 🙂 These shorter courses offer a flexible way to keep dancing during the holiday season… join us in July, August – or both!

Entry to the venue is up to 15 minutes before class start time. Please sign in at reception on arrival (you don’t need to be a member of Nuffield) then head to the studio to dance with us!

Please note: Students may use the gym’s changing rooms and dance studio, but the use of any other facilities (e.g. showers, swimming pool etc.) is not permitted by the venue.

Disclaimer: As with any form of exercise, be sure to listen to your body and only do what feels comfortable for you. Your instructor will guide you safely through each class, but please note that you are responsible for your personal health at all times. Please speak to your doctor if you have any concerns before joining our classes. Healthy bodies are happy bodies!

Fees are non-refundable. If you miss 1 class, you can take 1 replacement class (subject to T&C here). You may also transfer your place to a friend if you can no longer make it, or apply for a future term transfer (subject to T&C here)

What to wear

Comfortable clothing that you can move and stretch in!

For example:

  • leggings
  • a short or long top
  • barefoot / anti-slip socks / flexible sole slipper
  • optional coinbelt / hipscarf

Don’t have a coinbelt? We sell some in classes, or you can simply bring a winter scarf to wrap around your hips. Some students don’t wear a scarf nor a belt so don’t worry if you prefer to opt out!
