Sun, sea, sand… and belly dance!

We’re bringing the beach to London! Join us in our tropical paradise, filled with earthy omis, fluid figures of 8 and earth-trembling shimmies, as well as graceful hands, arms and expressions.

We were so inspired by our recent travels to Rapa Nui (Easter Island) – as were many of our social media friends! – that we’ve developed this brand new Island Fusion course. It combines some of the classics from our syllabus with tropical moves and techniques. The result? A limited edition, unique fusion course that creates sunshine in every class!

Rapa Nui is just one of the 1,000+ islands within Polynesia, and so we’ve drawn inspiration from many of the different dance styles across this archipelago. Get ready to join Shaddy and be immersed in that tropical feeling, whilst strengthening higher level techniques and stamina.

Since we’re going to the beach, sarongs are positively encouraged!

Shaddy will wear hers every class so you’re welcome to do the same, but you can stick to normal class gear if you prefer.

Level: This course fuses island styles with higher level techniques, so we think students who’ve taken at least Level 3 and upwards will get the most enjoyment from these classes.

Why 5 weeks?

Because summer time often means summer holidays, woohoo! Our 10-week courses have their own little holiday during July-August, and our 5-week courses shimmy in from stage left to work their summer season 🙂 These shorter courses offer a flexible way to keep dancing during the holiday season… join us in July, August – or both!

Book your place today

Entry to the venue is up to 15 minutes before class start time. Please sign in at reception on arrival (you don’t need to be a member of Nuffield) then head to the studio to dance with us!

Please note: Students may use the gym’s changing rooms and dance studio, but the use of any other facilities (e.g. showers, swimming pool etc.) is not permitted by the venue. Exit for this class is by 9.55pm at the latest, in accordance with our contract with the Club, so there won’t be time to use the changing rooms once the class has finished. Instead, you’ll have your belongings with you in the studio and can simply pull trousers over your leggings, change your shoes and wrap up in your coat 🙂

Disclaimer: As with any form of exercise, be sure to listen to your body and only do what feels comfortable for you. Your instructor will guide you safely through each class, but please note that you are responsible for your personal health at all times. Please speak to your doctor if you have any concerns before joining our classes. Healthy bodies are happy bodies!

Fees are non-refundable. If you miss 1 class, you can take 1 replacement class (subject to T&C here). You may also transfer your place to a friend if you can no longer make it, or apply for a future term transfer (subject to T&C here)

Course price is total fee per person.

What to wear

Comfortable clothing that you can move and stretch in!

For example:

  • leggings or your favourite sarong!
  • a short or long top
  • barefoot / anti-slip socks / flexible sole slipper
  • optional coinbelt / hipscarf

Don’t have a coinbelt? We sell some in classes, or you can simply bring a winter scarf to wrap around your hips. Some students don’t wear a scarf nor a belt so don’t worry if you prefer to opt out!
