Why is balancing a sword on your head so beneficial?
Because it requires intense muscle isolation, excellent posture and balance, and extreme control throughout all your movements. And those are core skills linked to every aspect of belly dancing!
Learn to delegate movement to your hips and other parts of your body while you keep your head still and your sword balanced on top. Discover how to be powerfully precise with the placement of every move you make. And, of course, swords naturally ramp up the drama and excitement of any belly dance routine!
Are your friends and family puzzled when you tell them you’re dancing with a sword? Invite them to the end of term Belly Dance Showcase and take part in the (optional) performance with this course – when they catch the glint of your sword in the lights of the stage, they’ll understand what it’s all about!
Note: Swords are provided for use during classes, but are not available to take home. We advise that you invest in a sword for your home practice.

Entry to the venue is up to 15 minutes before class start time. Please sign in at reception on arrival (you don’t need to be a member of Nuffield) then head to the studio to dance with us!
Please note: Students may use the gym’s changing rooms and dance studio, but the use of any other facilities (e.g. showers, swimming pool etc.) is not permitted by the venue.
Disclaimer: As with any form of exercise, be sure to listen to your body and only do what feels comfortable for you. Your instructor will guide you safely through each class, but please note that you are responsible for your personal health at all times. Please speak to your doctor if you have any concerns before joining our classes. Healthy bodies are happy bodies!
Fees are non-refundable. If you miss 1 or 2 classes, you can take up to 2 replacement classes (subject to T&C here). You may also transfer your place to a friend if you can no longer make it, or apply for a future term transfer (subject to T&C here)
Course price (£130) is total fee per person. Add the performance bundle (£20) to your cart if you want to take part in the end of term Belly Dance Showcase on Saturday 23rd November 2019.

What to wear
Comfortable clothing that you can move and stretch in!
- a short or long top
- barefoot / anti-slip socks / flexible sole slipper
- optional coinbelt / hipscarf
Don’t have a coinbelt? We sell some in classes, or you can simply bring a winter scarf to wrap around your hips. Some students don’t wear a scarf nor a belt so don’t worry if you prefer to opt out!
